The leadership of CEO Rick Shinto and COO/CAO Penelope Kokkinides has made InnovaCare Health one of the best providers of managed healthcare services to people in North America. Under this great leadership the company has created cost-effective, sustainable and highly technologically advanced health models. It also manages two medical plans; Medicare and Medicaid for the government in Puerto Rico. InnovaCare is all about access to quality healthcare.
Before joining InnovaCare, Shinto was the president and CEO of Aveta Inc from 2008. He worked in this position till 2012 when the company was sold. He also worked at NAMM where he was the chief medical officer. Earlier in his career, he got to work as the corporate vice president of medical management at MedPartners. This was between 1996 and 1997. At InnovaCare, he shows great leadership skills to his team. To ensure that InnovaCare is at its best, he seeks to work with a team with great expertise in the industry. That is why he selected Penelope Kokkinides together with Johnathan Meyers and Mike Sortino to join InnovaCare. The efforts of Shinto have not gone unnoticed. He has received several awards. For instance, he was the 2012 Entrepreneur of the Year in the Ernst & Young awards. Through the award, he was recognized for his excellence and success in financial performance, innovation and commitment to business and to the community around him.
Just like Shinto, Kokkinides has extensive experience in the health care industry. She takes pride in an over 20 years’ experience in the health care industry. She rejoined InnovaCare in June 2015 before which she worked at the Centerlight HealthCare. She also worked at Aveta and at Clinical Operations as the vice president. She has great experience working with government health insurance programs and is keen on matching people with the kind of health insurance that fits their needs. The work relationship between Shinto and Kokkinides goes way back to their work at Aveta, they are a great team that will take InnovaCare to even greater heights.
Under the leadership of Rick Shinto and Kokkinides, InnovaCare joined the LAN initiative in August 2016 to enhance payment system in the US health care system. LAN is an organization that seeks to ensure payment models of health care are based on quality and not quantity. InnovaCare will participate in LAN’s nationwide data collection.
