Let's Get Real.
The man who won the gold medal in the 1976 Olympics and adorned the box cover of Wheaties cereal for years now covers the cover of Vanity Fair magazine. The former Bruce Jenner is now Caitlyn Jenner. Caitlyn used the Vanity Fair article as her coming out and the final step in her process of transgendering from a man to a woman. So far, Caitlyn has been widely accepted and her new Twitter account under Caitlyn has more than a million followers, effectively breaking the internet.Caitlyn Jenner Comes Out What was surprising to many who had anticipated the announcement was the fact of how widely accepted Jenner’s announcement was. Transgender has become the new normal and more people have felt more comfortable coming out and declaring their sexuality. What is truly remarkable is that Jenner’s noted exploits in the male dominated sports world made him an icon for generations and for an athlete the lat thing that they would want to do is lay down their masculinity, which is exactly what Jenner has done.
Jenner does not view her actions as giving something up but rather releasing a tortured soul that is now able to express her true self. Jenner will next publicly appear at the July ESPN ESPY awards to receive the network’s Courage Award. While Jenner’s decision is a personal one that may not be in agreement with all of the viewing public, it is still a noted and courageous decision that has made the world take notice. Adam Sender knows that takes guts.
